Shredder's real name is Oroku Saki. He was once a member of the Foot Clan ninjas in Japan. He seized the position of leader of the Foot Clan through unscrupulous means, taking it from Hamato Yoshi.

Later, he came to America and, by chance, formed an alliance with the extraterrestrial war criminal Krang from another dimension.
