Addressing Tariffs
Early 2025 has been tumultuous on the world economic stage with the United States executive branch imposing tariffs on the import of many goods from other countries.
Many of the collectibles we sell are manufactured in China (even if the final place of sale is Japan or the USA) and as such they are directly impacted by the tariffs imposed there.
The Plan
The importer, and not the shipping country, pays these tariffs. When the imposed tariffs were around 10% our plan was to absorb these costs for all existing orders and adjust prices on newer preorders and releases. Indeed, we have already adjusted the prices of some items and noted the reason in the product description.
However, with the trade war escalating and tariffs rising to over 100% in some cases, this is no longer tenable.
The Pivot
While we expect there to be increased costs going forward in the long term, in the short term we hope this level of escalation is temporary. For now, we intend to hold shipments from China until some stability and certainty is in place. This will allow us time to address the costs if the administration doesn't back down and find a solution.
This does mean, however, that items slated for release in the months of April and May may see delays. This may hold true even for US releases of items as many of our suppliers are taking similar actions and as mentioned, all of this product comes from countries like China, Vietnam, Taiwan etc.
Items already in transit will be honored at their original preorder prices, but any additional stock will have prices adjusted to account for the additional costs.
Going Forward
As mentioned, we expect (hope for) this to be a short term issue and once some level of certainty is regained, we will make more permanent adjustments to keep bringing you guys the things you love!
Thank you!
